 | ROBBIE MCEWEN WINS STAGE 2 AT TOUR DE ROMANDIE !!!
Stage two of Tour de Romandie, over 170 kilometres between Moutier and Fribourg, over mountainous roads from the start, with one 2nd category and one 3rd category cols in the second part of the distance.
Just as yesterday, three riders, Remy Di Gregorio (Française des Jeux), José Louis Arrieta (AG2R) and Ian McKissick (BMC), attacked immediately after the start.
The peloton did not react, and the gap reached 10' after 60 kilometres ! The leaders reached Fribourg after 135 km, to finish with a 35 kilometres lap, with the ascent of la Lorette, which they began with 2'30" on the peloton.
Di Gregorio attacked alone, but he was caught by the peloton with 7 kilometres to go.
The whole peloton stormed towards the finish, where our Robbie McEwen was the fastest ahead of Daniele Bennati (Liquigas) and the Dane Matti Breschel (Team CSC).
The general classification does not change, Michael Albasini (Liquigas) remains leader.
