Go Styby go ! Stybar and Ridley Bikes world champion !
Zdenek Stybar claimed the elite men’s world title in front of “his” Czech home crowd. Stybar was the first to cross the finish line in Tabor on his Ridley X-night. Vantornhout grabbed the silver medal on his Ridley X-fire. With Stybar on 1 and Vantornhout on 2, Ridley Bikes showed supremacy on the men elite race !
Stybar’s supremacy was huge in Tabor. Even a flat tubular could not lose the young Czech’s cool. He returned to the front of the race with Heule, Mourey and Vantornhout. But it did not take long for Stybar to take over the control of the race. Halfway he already had 17 seconds on the pack.
Behind Stybar, Vantornhout, Nijs and Bina were battling for silver and bronze. Vantornhout took second place and Nijs won the sprint for third place.
Stybar is living his dream. “Winning the GC in the UCI world cup gave me a lot of confidence, that GC was my goal for this season. The rainbow jersey is the cherry on the cake. I'm very happy but I still can't believe that I actually won. This is a dream. Maybe I'll realize it when I'm wearing the rainbow jersey next week," said Stybar.
