Kevin Pauwels takes the World Cup

Kevin Pauwels assured himself of the World Cup in the last WC race of the season. As icing on the cake, he also won the final race in Hoogerheide.
At the beginning of the race, Kevin was concentrated on the wheel of his only rival for the GC, Sven Nys. When he saw that he was better, he accelerated and Nys could not follow. Only Stybar and Vantornhout could stay in his wheel. At that point, the World Cup final victory seemed to be his already inside, but that was not enough for Pauwels. In the last lap he accelerated again, and nobody could follow. This way, Kevin rode solo to victory on his Ridley X-Night. Stybar finished second, and the third place was for Pauwels’ teammate Vantornhout. It was the fourth World Cup victory for Pauwels in 8 races. He thoroughly deserves his first overall World Cup victory!
