UCI approves WorldTour license for Lotto Belisol team
After hearings held November 15-18, the UCI commission approved a WorldTour license for Lotto Belisol. With the approval of license for the next four years, Lotto Belisol can focus on the future.
Riders like André Greipel, Jurgen Van den Broeck, Jelle Vanendert and Mehdi Sohrabi gathered enough UCI points to qualify Lotto Belisol for the top 15 WorldTour teams. The next step was to analyze the competitiveness of the whole team. With riders like Jürgen Roelandts, Olivier Kaisen and the new arrivals Lars Bak and Greg Henderson, this was no problem. The integration of six youngsters in the team, ie Tosh Van Der Sande, charmed the UCI managers. Finally, the 3 year agreement with secondary sponsor Lotto Belisol was a very positive element in the approval of the WorldTour license.
With this sorted, Lotto Belisol can really focus on the preparations for next season. A first team training will take place this week in the Ardennes. On December 6th, the riders will leave for Mohacar Spain for their first training camp.
