After the 2013 road cycling season kicked off in Australia and Argentina, we are rapidly approaching that time of year in which ‘pavé’ is the word written in capitals on the minds of professional cyclists.

In a few weeks time riders will face the grueling cobble sections and brutally steeps climbs of Flanders and Northern France during the 'Ronde van Vlaandere', Gent-Wevelgem, or Paris-Roubaix. Races which are extremely demanding, both on the rider and on their bikes.

For these races the proteam Lotto-Belisol has opted for a new Ridley frame: the Fenix. This decision was taken after tests of the frame by André Greipel during a number of 2012 races on Flemish roads.

The Fenix was developed by Ridley with the pavé classics in mind. The oversized sharp edge tubing guarantees a high level of stiffness and is extremely strong and durable. The flat sections in the seat stays absorb road vibrations to give the rider a high amount of comfort and increased stability on rough roads.

On the occasion of the pavé classics, Ridley launches the Fenix Classic, a bike equipped to conquer the most gruesome road sections. It comes with a Campagnolo Chorus group with a Rotor crankset. 4ZA 'Comfort' handlebar tape and Continental GrandPrix 4-Season 700x25 tires supply additional comfort for the rider. The Duraskin sidewalls and double Vectran anti-puncture layer of the tires offer the best possible protection against flats. The design of the Fenix Classic is the one found on the frames of the Fenix ridden by Lotto-Belisol.

The Ridley Fenix Classic is available at all Ridley dealers. Recommended price: 2.699 euro
