Shape
optimization Our
racing frames are designed and engineered in-house, from concept
to solid model computer analysis. We constantly
analyze and make adjustments to tube structure to achieve specific
performance and aesthetic goals. The forces that
affect a bicycle are well known, as are the attributes desired
by the rider. Taking the design concepts from our industrial
designers, we can optimize tube shape for best ride quality
characteristics: front end stability, bottom bracket
stiffness, smooth ride quality, torsional frame stiffness.
Geometry
An often overlooked but essential piece of frame design is the
geometry.Perfected over years of providing frames for the top
professionals in Belgium, Ridley geometry is designed to fit almost
every rider on the road. Our geometry is so comfortable
that all our pro riders, including the whole Predictor-Lotto (formerly
Davitamon-Lotto) team, uses stock frames instead
of models with custom geometry.
In
application: Noah
The goal of developing the Noah frame was to make a bike that
was even stiffer and better handling than the Damocles.
We increased the size of tubes and joints in the main triangle,
allowing for more overall frame stiffness. But the most visually
different part is the integrated seat tube. Knowing the integrated
system to be much stiffer than a standard tube/post set-up,
we were able to optimize tube shape to create an aerodynamic profile
that is significantly stiffer than a traditional frame
design.
Integrated
seat post with oversized and internally reinforced BB area proved
to be much stiffer than Damocles design.
Conic
1.5” oversize head tube, 1.5” oversize fork crown
and oversized fork blades contribute to unparalleled front-end
stiffness, crucial in group sprinting, cornering, and descending.
