One of Ridley’s
most recognizable points are the beautiful paint jobs on the frames.
Frames are still painted in Belgiumwith
a time and labor consuming method of transfers, so logos and designs
are all painted on in stages. This difficult process is what makes Ridley
the most stunning bicycle in the peleton.
Ecology
Ridley is committed to doing its part to keeping the environment clean.
Painting
Powder coating is the most ecologically friendly method for frame painting. All aluminum and aluminum-carbon frames are powder coated.
98% of the initial spray is immediately recovered, and the remaining 2 % is taken out of the air for 100% overspray recycle. The final emission is thus 100% clean, and in winter the warm air is put back into the building to assist in heating.
No solvents are involved in this process.
For carbon frames, which cannot be powder coated, we use a water base liquid paint that is solvent free. All spray areas have double filter to ensure 99.9% cleanliness.
Our spray cabins also have automatic frequency adjustment to adjust the power of the spray motor to the size of the design – smaller objects and finer design can run on reduced power to save energy.
Recycling
All frames returned to Ridley, whether through warranty or crash replacement, are recycled. Aluminum frames are completely recycled; Alu-carbon frames have the carbon sections removed and are recycled; carbon frames and frame parts are also fully recycled. Boxes, frame cartons, packaging and wrapping materials are all separately recycled in the company.
