Klaas Vantornout won a nail-biter at the Superprestige race in Gieten, just holding off a charging Sven Nys at the line. Sunweb-Revor teammate Pauwels completed the podium.
Nys had a good start and immediately took the lead on a long muddy stretch. Together with Vantornout he created a gap, but Rob Peeters was able to close it. Nys began pushing the pace, putting the others under pressure. With 3 laps to go, only Vantornout en Pauwels were able to follow on their Ridley X-Night. In the last few corners, Vantornout attacked. Nys appeared to write the race off, but still managed to finish just a few centimeters behind Klaas. Pauwels completed the podium.
