After the first stage André Greipel has also won the second one in the Tour of Belgium. In Ninove he won a close sprint before 19-year-old Danny Van Poppel and Belgian champion Tom Boonen. The second stage left around 11:30 in Knokke-Heist to the Flemish Ardennes, both the Bosberg and Congoberg had to be climbed twice. After about 35 kilometers a breakaway of five was formed, with rouleur Mikhail Ignatyev. The front group never had more than five minutes lead. Lotto Belisol controlled the peloton.

Today the Flanders regional government set aside 500,000 Euros to help fund the Bike Valley initiative founded by 5 of Belgium’s most forward thinking corporations; Ridley Bikes, Lazer (helmets), BioRacer (clothing), EnergyLab (athletic performance center) and Flanders Drive (mobility knowledge center). As part of the “Flanders in Action” program, created to establish factories of the future in the region, the funding will be used to establish the most advanced R&D facility focused on the aerodynamics and technologies of human power. It will mainly be used for the construction of a bicycle-specific wind tunnel”, says Marc Hufkens of Bike Valley. “Such a wind tunnel, which doesn’t exist in Europe, clearly indicates our ambition of making Bike Valley the first worldwide, cross border, open innovation competence hub of everything related to bicycles.”

After a fantastic performance Adam Hansen has given Lotto Belisol the victory in stage seven of the Giro d'Italia. In the hilly stage the Aussie jumped along in an early breakaway, and left his companions behind one by one to finish it off with a solo of twenty kilometers to Pescara. For Hansen this victory is the most beautiful of his career, one day before his 32nd birthday.

In 2013 Belgian bike manufacturer Ridley launches a new concept of dealers: the Ridley Expert Centers. The Bike & Cycle store in Krufft is the first Center worldwide and officially opened on April 30th with a meet and greet with Ridley sponsored Lotto-Belisol rider André Greipel.
