Bronze medal for Jelle Geens at Ironman 70.3 World Championships
In a spectacular edition of the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, Jelle Geens secured his third consecutive podium finish. After two world titles, he now takes home a bronze medal. In Nice, he delivered a phenomenal half marathon, climbing from twelfth place to a podium finish. Geens has not had an easy season. He had made the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii one of his main goals, but had to abandon that ambition due to injury. He therefore shifted his focus to a third world title over the half distance. In Nice, the course presented the riders with a tough challenge in the form of the Col de Vence. Geens came out of the water in seventh place and eventually started the run in twelfth. He moved up to the podium during the run. He finished 1'45 behind world champion Wilde in third place and joined Kristian Blummenfelt on the podium.
Ridley has firmly established itself in triathlon. Several ambassadors competed on our Triton Fast. Luxembourg’s Gregor Payet finished in 21st place, while American newcomer Morgan Pearson finished 23rd. British athlete Rebecca Anderbury recorded a 20th-place finish, while Lena Meißner took 25th place.
