Everywhere for everyone. Our new Grifn range.

Introducing our brand-new Grifn RS, Grifn A, and E-Grifn

Following the success of our Grifn, we are expanding our all-road segment with the high-end Grifn RS, the aluminum Grifn, and our very first electric performance bike: the E-Grifn. Additionally, the current Grifn will have two smaller models added, XXXS and XXS, making all-road truly accessible to everyone.

Grifn RS: lighter, faster, and just as versatile

The Grifn RS is the elite series carbon version of the Grifn, tailored for riders with a competitive mindset. The bike is lighter and faster, responding even better to the rider's impulses, allowing your true potential to shine. The lighter weight is the result of an optimized carbon structure and the use of lighter and stiffer carbon fibers, resulting in a 140-gram improvement over the Grifn.

Aerodynamic optimizations.
We've redesigned the frame to accommodate the rear wheel seamlessly. The seat tube features an aerodynamic D-shaped seat post. To reduce air resistance, we've integrated a diffuser into the fork crown, allowing airflow to pass through with less resistance. Additionally, there is reduced resistance in the area behind the head tube and fork. At 36 kilometers per hour, the Grifn RS experiences 5% less resistance than the Grifn.
The geometry of the current Grifn remains unchanged, as we've received many positive comments about it. Classified Ridley riders are also enthusiastic about this all-roader. The same geometry features a steering angle of 72 degrees, positioned between the 73.5 of a performance road bike and the 71.5 of a gravel bike (like the Kanzo Fast). The bottom bracket is lower than that of a traditional performance road bike and slightly higher than that of a gravel bike. The shorter rear chainstay of 420 millimeters also contributes to the bike's responsiveness when accelerating.

From a road race today to a gravel event tomorrow?
With the Grifn RS, it's all possible: on-road or off-road, with or without bikepacking bags, with road tires of 32 millimeters or gravel tires of 42 millimeters (actual width). We're going slightly wider than the Grifn here. 42 millimeters generally prove sufficient to tackle a variety of gravel challenges.

Similar to the Grifn, the Grifn RS features the option to route the cable for a rear light through the top tube. We also conceal this internal cable routing for the dynamo hub in the fork leg. This allows you to install lighting on your bike. Additionally, the CeramicSpeed SLT bearings for the headset are a nice addition. Thanks to their construction, they have a very long lifespan.

Approved by Annabel Fisher

Annabel Fisher from the Classified Ridley Team has been riding a Grifn RS throughout the 2024 season. She tested the bike and hasn't wanted any other since. On the Grifn RS, she won the gravel Tierra de Campos time trial, among other victories.

Engineers have also redesigned the front derailleur clamp. Whereas the Grifn has a separate clamp, the Grifn RS integrates it and makes it easy to remove with a 1x drivetrain. Optionally, the front derailleur clamp can be replaced with an aero chain guide developed specifically for Ridley with Wolf Tooth. The Wolf Tooth Lone Wolf aero chainguide also fits the Falcn RS, X-Night RS, and E-Grifn. The chain guide is available in three versions for chainrings ranging from 40 to 58 teeth. A special cover hides the mounting point when you're not using a front derailleur or chain guide.

At the rear, you'll find a UDH derailleur hanger, just like on the Grifn and Falcn RS. Shifting is possible both mechanically (with a 1x drivetrain) and electronically (with a 1x or 2x drivetrain), as with the other two new models.

You can further customize the bike via the configurator, with options for multiple wheels, cockpits, tires, and other specifications. You can choose between handlebars with and without flare, giving you a choice of 8 cockpit sizes. The frame features various mounting points for installing items like bike bags and fenders.

Grifn A: a modern aluminum bike

An all-road aluminum bike that's fast and capable on all terrains? That's the Grifn A! Like the Grifn RS and Grifn, this bike combines the speed of a road bike with the comfort of a gravel bike.

With the Grifn A, you can choose tires up to 38 millimeters wide, and with a 1x drivetrain, you can even go up to 40 millimeters. The geometry and sizing are identical to its carbon counterpart, providing the same balanced riding experience on all terrains.

The placement of the mounts on the Grifn A is also identical to the Grifn. It's worth noting that the Grifn A features a Universal Derailleur Hanger. This hanger is compatible with all groupsets and is increasingly becoming the standard. However, it's still rare for an aluminum bike to use this UDH, despite all the benefits it offers.

Top-quality materials

The semi-integrated cable routing ensures a clean cockpit. There are no messy cables and brake lines between the handlebars and frame. An additional benefit is that you can easily mount handlebar bags and other accessories without cables getting in the way. The integrated cabling for the lighting of the Grifn and Grifn RS is also present on the Grifn A. This level of integration is rarely seen on bikes with an aluminum frame.

We opt for a 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for the Grifn A because it scores highly in terms of stiffness, metal fatigue, weight, and welding precision. Each tube has a central wall thickness three times thinner than the ends. We use this 'triple-butted' technique in our other aluminum frames as well, keeping the weight as low as possible and stiffness as high as possible.

For the fork, we use a carbon fork with a carbon steerer tube, an added advantage over many bikes in this segment. The carbon steerer tube provides additional precision in steering, significant weight savings, and extra comfort due to shock absorption.

Similar to the Grifn RS, we offer the Grifn A in six different sizes: XXS, XS, S, M, L, and XL. The Grifn A is available with road and gravel specifications.

E-Grifn: our first sporty e-bike

With the E-Grifn, we also introduce our first sporty e-bike. Discover new terrains, go further, longer, and higher on this electric all-rounder.

Mahle X20: a natural riding experience.
What sets this e-bike apart is the choice of the Mahle X20 drive unit. This compact and proven system makes the impossible possible. With a weight of just 3.2 kilograms, it's possible to build a lightweight e-bike. The bike feels very natural to ride. The assistance corresponds to the force you apply to the pedals, made possible by the torque sensor in the bottom bracket communicating with the software. Note: if you're not pedaling, the system doesn't provide power. The E-Grifn remains a bicycle and not a motorcycle. Consequently, you always feel like you're riding with a nice breeze at your back, making every ride feel like a sporty adventure.

An advantage of the X20 motor is that it operates virtually without additional mechanical resistance above the 25 kilometers per hour limit. The power from the system gradually fades out, ensuring a smooth riding experience. This also contributes to the natural feel of the bike.
Bike assistance and battery

Through the Mahle app, you can control and adjust the motor with your phone according to your preferences. Afterward, you can review the information from your ride. During the ride, you can access various information via your bike computer. The system is ANT+ compatible, allowing information such as battery status, support level, and your own power output to be available to other ANT+ compatible devices. Additionally, the system is self-learning and adapts to your riding behavior, ensuring an enjoyable electric biking experience.

With Mahle X20, you have three levels of bike assistance that our product managers specifically tailored for the Grifn. We wanted to determine these levels ourselves rather than opting for the standard. Various test sessions with all types of riders were scheduled for this purpose. Through trial and error, we kept searching until we found the ideal three levels. This 'custom mapping' is a typical example of our eternal pursuit of perfection. Switching between the different assistance levels can be done via the satellite buttons on the handlebars or via the controller on the top tube. The latter also visually displays the battery capacity and assistance level.

The Mahle X20 motor provides up to 250 watts of additional assistance with torque comparable to that of a 55 newton-meter mid-motor. At the highest assistance level, this helps you conquer the steepest hills.

With the E-Grifn, we opt for the battery with the largest capacity (350Wh), and there's the option to expand it further with a 171 Wh range extender that replaces a water bottle. From Mahle's user data, our engineers know that the 350 Wh battery is sufficient for the majority of bike rides in this all-road segment. You can charge the battery to 80% in 2 hours, and it fully charges in 3.5 hours. The battery is seamlessly integrated into the frame, resulting in a sporty bike appearance with the added support of an e-bike.

The geometry of the E-Grifn is the same as that of the other Grifns. Other features such as the removable front derailleur clamp, space for tires up to 42 millimeters, and the UDH hanger share many similarities with the Grifn RS. One small difference is the absence of mounting points on the top tube, due to the presence of the display/controller for the Mahle system. Of course, you can also install fenders and lighting on this E-Grifn. Shifting is possible both electronically and mechanically, and we offer both road and gravel specifications. The E-Grifn is also configurable online. This way, you can ride a unique bike in your favorite color and setup.
