Belgian Yana Decruyenaere claims World Championship silver on Dean Fast
Belgian Yana Decruyenaere secured Ridley’s first World Championship medal at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Montréal on Tuesday evening. The 18-year-old finished second in the women’s junior individual time trial, with only Poland’s Maria Okrucinska finishing ahead of her. Decruyenaere rides for the Foca - Dynaplus Pro Cycling U19 Team, which has a partnership with Ridley. Riding her Dean Fast, she delivered a strong time trial and ultimately stepped onto the podium in second place.
The Dean Fast was developed with one clear goal: to develop speed as efficiently as possible against the clock. Ridley paid close attention to aerodynamics, but also to the stability of the bike. At high speeds and in crosswinds, it is important for a rider to feel confident on the bike and maintain their aerodynamic position for as long as possible.
This development was supported by CFD simulations and wind tunnel testing at Bike Valley. The introduction of the 8:1 rule also gave Ridley more freedom to further optimise the bike’s aerodynamics. The compact front end, integrated stem and F-Surface Plus are some of the elements that contribute to its aerodynamic design.
During testing with Alec Segaert, a difference of 44 watts was measured at 52 km/h compared to the previous Dean model. Segaert had previously won silver on a prototype of the Dean Fast at the U23 World Championships time trial in Wollongong. A year later, he added further silver medals at the World Championships and European Championships.

With her silver medal, Yana Decruyenaere delivered a particularly strong performance in Montréal. For the Foca - Dynaplus Pro Cycling U19 Team, it is a great reward for the work being done with the young rider. For Ridley, it represents another World Championship medal for the Dean Fast. The West Flemish rider from Sint-Denijs was surprised by her own performance, but it certainly did not come out of nowhere. She has already shown her talent on the track, particularly in the individual pursuit, where she also rides a Ridley.
