Five out of five! Ridley riders show off-road dominance
Michael Vanthourenhout in Ruddervoorde, Felipe Orts in the Nacht van Woerden, Joris Nieuwenhuis at Heerderstrand, Wout Janssen in Contern, and once again Michael Vanthourenhout in Overijse — the past eight days have been remarkably successful for Ridley’s cyclocross riders. Now that the CX season is in full swing, we’re proud to see our different teams immediately underline our off-road dominance.
On Sunday, October 19, it was all about Ridley in the first Superprestige round. In the West Flanders classic, Joris Nieuwenhuis led the race for a long time. Eventually, he was caught by the first chasers, but his tank wasn’t empty yet. It turned into a thrilling duel with Michael Vanthourenhout, also racing on the X-Night RS for Pauwels Sauzen - Altez Industriebouw. In the end, the blond West Fleming sprinted to victory in front of his home crowd.

X-Night RS
A crown jewel for championsThe X-Night RS is the fifth generation of our cyclocross bike on which dozens of titles have already been won. We developed this X-Night RS tailored to the cyclocross rider, with a special cyclocross geometry and numerous aerodynamic improvements. The Ridley Racing Team will use this crown jewel from autumn 2024.

The Ridley Racing Team didn’t stay behind. On Tuesday evening, Felipe Orts delivered a masterclass in the Nacht van Woerden. Under the floodlights, he treated the crowd to an exciting duel with Pim Ronhaar. The Dutchman went on the offensive early, but the Spanish artist had an answer ready. He celebrated his first win of the season with a wheelie.
A similar scenario unfolded last Saturday at the Exact Cross Heerderstrand. Once again, Ronhaar was the most aggressive rider in the opening phase. After switching from the faster Typhoon tread to the more robust Rhino profile, Nieuwenhuis felt right at home on the technical course. He caught Ronhaar in the final lap and also secured his first victory of the season.

Sunday Funday
Sunday, October 26, was another joyful day for Ridley. Wout Janssen gave Cyclis - Van den Plas CX Team the victory at the Grand Prix de la Commune de Contern, crowning his strong form. Earlier this season, he had already finished fourth in the Exact Cross Essen, sprinting for the win. The 23-year-old from the Kempen shows he’s taken yet another step forward.
In the Druivenstreek, Michael Vanthourenhout claimed his second consecutive Superprestige victory. In Overijse, he made his decisive move in the final lap. With another win already in Steinmaur, he now totals three bouquets this season. For the team, things are running particularly smoothly — on Saturday, Yordi Corsus and Leonie Bentveld both reached the podium at Heerderstrand. We’re already looking forward to what the rest of autumn brings!
