Andreas Leknessund takes Vuelta stage win as Uno-X Mobility seals Norwegian 1-2
Andreas Leknessund delivered a memorable victory for Uno-X Mobility on stage 7 of the Vuelta a España, leading home teammate Tobias Halland Johannessen for an impressive one-two finish.
The 149.8-kilometre mountain stage from Vall d’Alba to Aramón Valdelinares saw Leknessund attack almost immediately after the start. Together with Wout van Aert, the Norwegian spent virtually the entire day at the front of the race before a small group, including teammate Johannessen, eventually bridged across.
With the breakaway holding its advantage towards the decisive final climb, everything was set for a battle between the five remaining leaders.
Leknessund did not wait long.

Leknessund did not wait long.
On the slopes towards Aramón Valdelinares, he increased the pace and quickly left his fellow escapees behind. From there, the Norwegian powered alone towards the summit, turning a day-long breakaway into an impressive solo victory.
Behind him, Johannessen played his cards perfectly. After initially staying with Van Aert, Eddie Dunbar and Alexey Lutsenko, he attacked on the steeper final section of the climb and secured second place.
The result completed a remarkable one-two for Uno-X Mobility and Ridley in the team's first-ever Vuelta a España.

A Grand Tour hat-trick
The victory also marks another milestone in an exceptional season for Uno-X Mobility: the Norwegian team has now won a stage in all three Grand Tours in 2026.
After already celebrating victories at the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France earlier this season, Leknessund’s win in Spain completes the set.

A special victory for Norway
The result carried extra significance on an emotional day for Norway, following the passing of King Harald.
Leknessund and Johannessen gave their Norwegian team a victory to remember, taking the top two positions on one of the Vuelta's first major mountain stages.
For Leknessund, it was a victory built on commitment. He had been at the front since the opening kilometres and still had the strength to make the decisive move when the road pointed upwards.
Johannessen's second place made the performance even more special.
