Flandriennes Defy the Rain During Social Ride 'Allez les Femmes'
The weather gods were not on our side during the second edition of our Social Ride Allez les Femmes. Still, eight brave Flandriennes (joined by two Flandriens) faced the elements head-on. There was plenty of chatting and laughter — not even a flat tire or a minor slip could throw our peloton off balance.
A heavy rain shower rolled over our factory on Thursday afternoon. For a moment, we even doubted whether we could start the ride, but host Isabelle Beckers stayed positive. When not only the rain, but also a few participants started to drip in, we decided to go for it! Thankfully, several colleagues from Bioracer (partner of the Ridley Racing Team) were happy to join.

Coffee Stop at Kaffix
An early flat tire turned into an impromptu crash course in tube repair, and soon we were off at full speed toward Kaffix. This bike repair shop is perched on top of the Citadel in Diest — which meant we had to climb the rain-soaked cobbles of the Allerheiligenberg. Luckily, we were able to warm up afterwards with a hot coffee.
Of course, we still had to make our way back to Beringen. By then, the light drizzle had turned into a torrential downpour. Fortunately, spirits remained high, and with a strong tailwind we quickly reached the finish. At our Bike Wash, we rinsed off the mud and grime, then celebrated with a well-earned Aperol or alcohol-free Crodino.
Another successful edition in the books!
