Ridley in Yellow! Torstein Træen Takes the Overall Lead in the Tour de France

  • News
7 July 2026 will go down as a memorable day for Ridley. Norwegian rider Torstein Træen claimed the Yellow Jersey in the Tour de France today after an outstanding breakaway in the stage from Carcassonne to Foix. He now leads the general classification by several seconds over his closest rival.

During the fourth stage of La Grande Boucle, a large breakaway group animated the race from early on. The peloton, led by UAE Team Emirates, initially kept the attackers on a tight leash. Eventually, however, the gap grew to more than five minutes, allowing Træen to move into the virtual race lead. The Uno-X rider then produced a superb performance, survived the demanding Col de Montségur and held on all the way to the finish in Foix.

From illness to the Yellow Jersey

Torstein Træen's story makes this achievement even more remarkable. The Norwegian has travelled an extraordinary road over the past few years. In 2022, testicular cancer was discovered during a routine anti-doping test. Following surgery and a relatively short recovery, he was able to resume his career. Step by step, he fought his way back to the highest level of the sport. Last year, he already wore the leader's jersey for four days at the Vuelta a España. Winning the Yellow Jersey at the Tour de France today is the ultimate reward for his determination and perseverance.

For Ridley, this is a very special moment. The Yellow Jersey is the most iconic symbol in professional cycling, and it has been twelve years since the leader of the Tour de France last rode a Ridley. That was in 2014, when Tony Gallopin took over the race lead after a memorable stage in the Vosges. The Tour is still a long way from Paris, but one thing is certain: on Wednesday, 8 July, the leader of the world's greatest cycling race will be riding a Ridley Noah Fast with yellow accents.

Noah Fast

The fastest bike we’ve ever built

As of 2025, aerodynamics is everything! That’s why Ridley’s product developers started from a blank sheet for the third generation of the Noah Fast. The result is a 100% aero bike. At a speed of 50 km/h, the Noah Fast is 8.5 watts faster than its predecessor. This underlines that aerodynamics is truly embedded in Ridley’s DNA.
