The E-ASTR is an e-bike for the rider looking for a pure riding experience with the added benefit of electrical support to make the riding more enjoyable.
We have selected the lightweight TQ system for this e-bike and we managed keep the look of the bike as close as possible to the non assisted ASTR RS version. We have even hidden the controls and display to keep the e-system as stealthy as possible.
In addition to the light system weight the TQ drive unit is also very silent and the support level it provides is least intrusive we have ever experienced from any drive unit.
The Astr family features groundbreaking tire clearance: 52 millimeters with a 1x setup and 47 millimeters with a 2x setup. This is no coincidence, but the result of a carefully considered vision from our product developers. They anticipated the increasing technical demands of gravel racing and the growing desire among riders for more grip, stability, and versatility.
At a time when gravel bikes are continually pushing boundaries, the Astr family positions itself as a category-leading innovator. With these exceptional specifications, we underline our ambition not just to follow trends, but to inspire and define what gravel truly means.
The E-ASTR is powered by the brand-new TQ HPR40 drive unit. With the highest torque-to-weight ratio in its class, it operates almost silently and offers a responsiveness that blurs the line between rider and motor. This piece of high-tech precision is currently the lightest and most compact system on the market. Weighing just 1.2 kg for the motor and 1.46 kg for the battery, the overall weight remains minimal. Visually too, the system is discreet: the motor is subtly hidden behind the chainrings, and the battery is elegantly integrated into the downtube.
The E-ASTR delivers a riding experience so natural you barely notice the motor. The TQ HPR40 provides support exactly when needed and disengages smoothly above 25 km/h, without any jerks or extra resistance. This keeps the cycling feel 100% authentic — sporty, fluid, and fully controlled, with just that little extra power for every challenging moment.
The integrated 290 Wh lithium-ion battery of the TQ HPR40 drive unit combines an exceptionally low weight of just 1,460 grams with the best weight-to-capacity ratio in its class. Advanced software precisely manages energy consumption, ensuring every ride – from steep climbs to long day trips – is as efficient as possible. Everything about this battery is designed for maximum performance and a natural riding feel, perfectly integrated into the bike’s design.
The Range Extender is a compact and smart solution for those who want to get the most out of the TQ HPR40 drive unit. With the size of a standard 500 ml water bottle, this additional battery provides a practical extension of your range without compromising the design or weight of your bike. Thanks to intelligent charging logic and the ability to power the drive unit independently, it’s a powerful and versatile supplementary energy source for longer rides.
The universal derailleur hanger (UDH) is the new standard in the cycling world. Not only is this derailleur hanger compatible with all modern shifting groups, it also protects against derailleur breakage and chain drops. In mountain biking, UDH has long been very common, and Ridley is bringing the technology to other segments as well.
Belgian quality, local service, international prestige. That’s Ridley. We provide you with only the best possible service. That’s why we work very closely with local dealers, each an expert near you.
FIND DEALERSModern performance geometry demands more stability due to increasingly rough terrain combined with higher speeds. A 71.5-degree headtube angle ensures you have faster handling. The Astr family features a steeper seat tube (74 degrees), improving climbing performance and power transfer.
The product developers kept the chainstays as short as possible to accommodate tyres up to 52 millimetres without losing the feeling of responsiveness when accelerating. In addition, the bottom bracket is a bit lower. This ensures you have more stability at high speed. Finally, the head height is lower, so you sit more aerodynamically on the bike. In summary, this boils down to a modern competitive geometry, tailor-made for the ambitious gravel racer.
