ASTR (RS), Grifn (RS) and Kanzo Fast in action at the UCI Gravel World Championships

  • News
This past weekend, the UCI Gravel World Championships took place in South Limburg, the Netherlands. Dozens of Ridleys were out in force, earning strong results and showing great form. What stood out most was the variety of Ridley bikes on display. The performance-focused ASTR (RS), the versatile allroad Grifn (RS), and the aerodynamic Kanzo Fast all featured in the race — proof of our claim that Ridley offers the most complete gravel range in the world.

After the event could not be held in Nice, France, Dutch organizers stepped in to host it on the rolling terrain between Beek and Maastricht. The women covered 2.5 laps (131 km), while the men added one more lap to reach 181 km. Thousands of amateur riders also took part in the “age group” World Championships.

The standout performance of the weekend on a Ridley came from Daan Soete on his ASTR RS, who finished an impressive 15th among world-class riders like Tom Pidcock, Matej Mohorič, and Tim Wellens. Just six places behind him was his Ridley Racing Team teammate Aaron Van der Beken. In the women’s race, Nicole Frain delivered a strong ride to take 26th, while Violette Neza crossed the line in 90th.

Guest riders

Ridley also had a fine selection of guest riders this weekend. Victor Vercouillie, who normally rides bikes from Eddy Merckx Bikes (built under the same roof as Ridley), received permission from his team Flanders-Baloise to ride a Ridley for this occasion. We provided him with a Grifn, which allowed him to finish the race comfortably. The king of early breakaways thus gained valuable race rhythm ahead of the Tour of Holland, starting Tuesday evening.

Other guest riders included the Germans Paul Sandmann (ASTR RS) and Felix Donath (ASTR RS), the Belgians Lennard Vossen (ASTR RS) and Dries Grosemans (ASTR RS), and the Colombian Oscar Pachon (Kanzo Fast). Together, they turned the Gravel Worlds into a great display of cross-team collaboration and proved to the broader audience that the ASTR (RS), Grifn (RS), and Kanzo Fast are all capable of competing at the highest level.
