Silver and Bronze at the Cyclocross World Championships
Last weekend, the Cyclocross World Championships took place in Liévin, northern France. Twice, our riders on Ridley bikes got to wear a medal around their necks. On Saturday afternoon, Kay De Bruyckere claimed silver in the U23 category, and on Sunday morning, Leonie Bentveld added a bronze medal in the U23 women’s race.
Kay De Bruyckere is in top form. During the Christmas holidays, he had already won the races in Baal and Koksijde, and in the World Cup, he secured 8th place. For the first time, the rider from Maldegem was selected for the World Championships. Coming from behind, he worked his way up to a virtual podium position. In the final moments, he even managed to secure silver.
A day later, Leonie Bentveld followed in the footsteps of her teammate at Pauwels Sauzen - Cibel Clementines. The Dutch U23 rider set her own pace and quickly found her position in the race. Last year, she also took bronze at the Cyclocross World Championships.

Joris Nieuwenhuis
The riders of the Ridley Racing Team were also in action this weekend. In the men’s elite race, Joris Nieuwenhuis fought for a podium spot. In an exciting duel with Thibau Nys, he ultimately had to concede defeat. However, after a long absence, this 4th place feels like a victory. Felipe Orts finished the World Championships in 12th place.
