Yellow returns to the Noah Fast
It's happening again. And once again, it's on a Ridley Noah Fast. After Torstein Træen claimed the yellow jersey in this summer's Tour de France, it is now Sigrid Ytterhus Haugset's turn. The Norwegian champion of Uno-X Mobility wrote one of the most remarkable chapters in the history of the Tour de France Femmes on Monday by winning the third stage from Geneva to Poligny after an impressive 88-kilometre solo attack. As the icing on the cake, the 27-year-old also pulled on the coveted yellow jersey after the finish.
Haugset sensed early on that the hilly stage through the Jura would offer opportunities for attackers. She was part of the early breakaway and decided to leave her fellow escapees behind with just under one hundred kilometres remaining.
Kilometre after kilometre, the Norwegian champion held firm. Behind her, Lotte Kopecky and the group of favourites tried to close the gap, but Haugset kept riding relentlessly. Even when fatigue became visible in the final kilometres, she still found enough strength to defend her advantage and cross the finish line solo. The victory not only marked the biggest win of her career, but also earned her the yellow jersey at the Tour de France Femmes.
