Multiple Ridley victories in a weekend filled with offroad action

With offroad races in Italy, Spain and Belgium there were plenty of chances to score and that's exactly what all the Ridley riders did. We came away with three victories and three runner up spots. Read below to find out how everyone performed.

    World Cup Sardinia

The World Cup peloton moved from the West of France to the South of Italy at Sardinia. Last year was meant to be the first ever World Cup race at the island, but due to a heavy storm the race was cancelled. This year, the event took place in little fishing village of Terralba. The riders got a fast track with a couple of sand pits and some standing water.

It became clear that it would be hard to make a difference. Joris Nieuwenhuis, Michael Vanthourenhout and Sweeck all gave it a try but no one was able to make it stick. We entered the final lap with 8 riders and in the end it was Vanthourenhout who took the win ahead of Nieuwenhuis. A very nice double podium for Ridley!

In the women's race, Leonie Bentveld finished fourth and showed great consistency once again. Next to Bentveld, Betsema finished 7th, Verdonschot came in 14th, de Schoesitter 17th and Peeters 18th. The next World Cup race is in Namur on Sunday!

    Home races for Orts

After skipping last week's race in Flamanville, Felipe Orts decided to do two local races with a lot of his fans alongside the track. For Pauwels Sauzen - Altez Industriebouw, Yorben Lauryssen and Kenay De Moyer made the trip to the Valencia region. Felipe won both races and Lauryssen was runner up twice.

    Beach Race Bredene

Finally, Daan Soete and Aaron Van der Beken returned to action at the Beach Race in Bredene. For both men, it was their first race in nearly two months after the gravel season. For Daan, this also was his first race as Belgian Champion.

Daan managed to finish 6th in Bredene, meanwhile Aaron finished in 14th position. Both men will do some more beach races, starting with the race in De Haan next Sunday and the Belgian Championship on the 28th of December. Daan will also hop back on the CX bike again and makes his return to cyclocross this Saturday in Kortrijk.
