Our community shines at The Traka in Girona’s gravel mecca

  • News
Last weekend, Girona once again became Europe’s gravel mecca during The Traka. The Ridley community showed up in large numbers and demonstrated the breadth of our gravel range. From a sporting perspective, there were strong results for the riders of Ridley Racing Crew, with a 19th place for Arne Van Den Broeck in The Traka 360, as well as a 15th place for Kevin Panhuyzen and a 21st place for Daan Soete in The Traka 200. In the background, many other riders achieved their personal goals.

The Traka has grown into Europe’s biggest gravel event in recent years and is increasingly compared to Unbound Gravel in Kansas, USA. While the world’s best riders compete at the highest level, The Traka is also accessible to amateurs, for whom simply finishing is already a victory. This mix of professionals and amateurs creates a unique atmosphere and a true sense of community.

Cycling celebration

In The Traka 360, the duo from POWERPLUS Gravel Team lined up at the start. Arne Van Den Broeck held his own among the top riders for a long time and finished in a strong 19th place. Thomas De Gendt also experienced a special day: “After 50 kilometers, I was in a small group one minute behind the main breakaway. I was able to move up until I missed a feed zone after 179 kilometers. I hit the wall, but thanks to support and some extra sugars, I found the motivation to finish.” He eventually crossed the line in 60th place.

Daan Soete suffered a broken saddle after just 5 kilometers in The Traka 200, but still managed to finish in 21st place. That was six places behind Kevin Panhuyzen, who delivered a solid 15th place for Storms Cycling Team.

Several Ridley employees also took part, including Senior Product Manager Bert Kenens, CTO Pieter Potters, Customer Service Technician Karel Lenaers and Junior Marketeer Dries Grosemans. Everyone achieved their personal goals, making The Traka a true cycling celebration for the entire community.
