With the Grifn A, we expand our all-road segment to aluminum bikes. This bike is very similar to the carbon variant. With the Grifn A, we underline our ambition to offer a custom bike at every price point.
You can easily switch from a 'road-setup' to an 'offroad-setup' with the Grifn A. This aluminum bike feels at home on both regular roads and gravel paths thanks to its well-thought-out and highly appreciated all-road geometry. With internal dynamo routing and the option to install fenders, the Grifn A also becomes the ideal bike for necessary commutes.
You can choose tires up to 38 millimeters or even 40 millimeters (with 1x drivetrain) with the Grifn A, and in terms of geometry and placement of eyelets, this Grifn A is identical to the successful Grifn. Additionally, we opt for a 6061-T6 aluminum alloy because it scores very well on stiffness, metal fatigue, weight, and welding precision. The Grifn A even has a UDH, very rare among similar bikes. This makes the Grifn A a modern aluminum bike accessible to all enthusiasts.
Like every bike in the Grifn family, you have the option to route the cable for a rear light through the top tube. This internal cable routing for the dynamo hub is also concealed in the fork leg, eliminating the need for tape and protruding cable ties. This enables you to install lighting on your bike, which is a highly convenient addition when you want to venture into the darkness.
With the Grifn A, you have the option for tires up to 38 millimeters, and if you opt for a 1x drivetrain, you can even go up to 40 millimeters. With 38 millimeters, you typically have enough options to handle various gravel challenges. This maintains a balance between speed and agility on one hand, and comfort and stability on the other. Of course, on the road, you can easily switch wheels or tires if needed.
The frame has three attachment points on the down tube and two beneath it, as well as three on the seat tube, allowing you to adjust the position of your bottle cages in combination with a frame bag. Additionally, there are two attachment points on the top tube for a top tube bag or toolkit. Furthermore, we have designed specific mudguards for the Grifn, enabling you to use your bike in all weather conditions.
The universal derailleur hanger (UDH) is the new standard in the cycling world. Not only is this derailleur hanger compatible with all modern shifting groups, it also protects against derailleur breakage and chain drops. In mountain biking, UDH has long been very common, and Ridley is bringing the technology to other segments as well.
Ridley opts for a 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for the Grifn A due to its excellent scores in stiffness, metal fatigue, weight, and welding precision. Each tube has a wall thickness at its center three times thinner than at the ends, employing the ‘triple-butted’ technique to minimize weight and maximize stiffness. The clean welding of each tube ensures that the Grifn A is a thoroughly modern aluminum bike.

How can we help?
The frame needs a 12mm TA with a thread of 1mm (Ridley article code QRET124ZA046)
The uses the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH). This means you will find easily a replacement hanger wherever you are as it is a standardised hanger (Ridley article code HANUDHSRA001)
The frame uses a traditionnal 27,2mm round seatpost.
Yes, the frame has mounting points for mudguards. We have developed specific mudguardset for the Grifn (Ridley article code: MDGM50CUR003)
Yes, we have added a neat integrated cablerouting through the fork to the crown of the fork for your front light. We have added 2 small holes in the frame to route the cable for your rear light internally. In this way you avoid the hassle with tape or tiewraps to guide the cables!
No, the frame is developed with a geometry around 700C wheels.
We use a BSA bottom bracket on the Grifn A frame platforms.
The Grifn A uses a headset with a 1 1/2'' (IS52|40) upper bearing and 1 1/5'' (IS52|40) lower bearing.
